Workshop in Sustainable Devpt · Earth Institute
I learned about how to apply the knowledge that i've acquired during undergrad. I experienced the effectiveness of a well functioning collaborative work environment. I learned specifics about the topic that I focused on and how it relates to the other components of our project. The interconnectedness between the resources that a building consumes and the natural environment was something that stood out to me.
I learned a lot about how NYC functions and how to address sustainability issues in a real world environment
How to work in a group, how to make presentation, how to lead, research skills, etc.
I learned more about resiliency issues in NYC, methods of pursuing qualitative/quantitative research, and how to manage a team/balance communication with clients.
There were many learning experiences in this class, most of which consisted of how to work with a team and how to communicate with members about assigned tasks and various items that need to be completed. Another was how to work with authority and how to mitigate
I learned how to interact with a client and how to lead a group for a semester-long project. I gained a lot of leadership and project management skills.
How to do a consulting project for a client
This course requires a lot of collaboration and constant communication which can be difficult online.
I would recommend this course because it is a great step towards working in a professional environment. It is very dependent on the project, the client, and the group that you end up working with, but this is also part of what a professional working experience is and this is a great context to learn and grow. I would encourage whoever takes this course to push themselves out of their comfort zone as it is a great learning environment!
