During this course I met with Professor Kakkoufa weekly and discussed the assigned readings, brainstormed interesting ideas that could be applied within my thesis, and provided clarification with various ideas or subjects. In the second semester, the course was more focused around my writing; there were various sections of my paper due each week and Professor Kakkoufa was very responsive regarding questions and in reading my paper. I feel as if the quality of my writing improved throughout the past two semesters as a result of Professor Kakkoufa's edits and suggestions.
I was able to explore my research interests and narrow the topic for my senior thesis throughout the academic year. In addition to analyzing multiple works and existing research, across various media forms, I was also able to greatly improve my personal research and writing skills with constructive feedback and appropriate guidance.
This course allowed me to delve further into my specific interests within my major, guiding me through the process of formally researching, assembling, and organizing material into a thorough paper.
I would definitely recommend this class to another student. Each class session was engaging and informative, and all of the assignments that were given to me had meaning and were well thought out. All of the readings, videos, articles, assignments, etc., built on top of one another and all came together in the end which I very much appreciated.
Although nothing compares to working with and meeting professors in person, the virtual nature of the course was effective for last-minute and one-on-one meetings.
