I learned a survey of the important Greek myths
Aside from the historical and mythological aspects of this course that I learned, I was better able to understand how perspective and interpretation can greatly affect the outcome and result of the stories we read. My skills as a reader of ancient texts have be tremendously improved, as well as my ability to interpret it in my own way or fashion, due to the multiple short paper we had to write about certain myths thats often related to contemporary experiences. It also enlightened me, as a classical art connoisseur, on how this stories greatly affected or influenced some of the most important and prestigious pieces of literature or art that can be admired to this day,
This was my first classics course and course on greek mythology, so I learned a lot about Greek mythology and its importance and impact on Ancient Greek culture.
Felt it was a well balanced introduction to the topic. A good mix of readings and lectures.
I learned so much about Greek Mythology in this class. Both in the specifics of stories, but also in the general themes of myths, or general ancient Greek perspectives. I also learned how to process a large amount of names and details by connecting things with grander themes.
Broad and fairly deep understanding of Greek myth, Genealogy, History and Comparisons to the modern day.
Everything Greek Myth - reading multiple sources on each myth and memorizing lots of names/relationships.
I learned about various Greek myths: their characters, locations, and themes. I also learned how to grapple with reading multiple versions of the same story, and how to understand the nuances between different versions.
I learned a broad range of Greek Myths and how they are woven into the Greek culture and society as building blocks to laws and governence.
I learned how to explore Greek mythology both by taking and ancient greek perspective and by looking at these stories through a modern lens
