A background knowledge of the history of the Earth, dating methods, the different systems on our planet (as well as others) and how they are influenced by chemistry and physics, as well as the solid, liquid, and gaseous dynamics in those systems.

In this class, I learned about the geochemical processes that built Earth from solar material, led to its differentiation into continents and ocean, and have maintained the UCC and surface at a steady and comfortable temperature for living. We learned how to analyze a variety of figures and graphs, particularly those measuring isotopes ratios. We also participated in Geochemistry projects at Lamont, which was super fun and gave me a taste of geochemical fieldwork.
The relationship between our universe and our planet, as well as the dynamics of life on Earth.
While it definitely is not a class you can take without putting in a lot of work for, it is worthwhile to take if you are interested in geochemistry!
