What students said

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

How to use the remote sensing software ENVI and basic image processing and interrupting skills.

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

Learning a lot about ENVI, sensors, orbits, etc.

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

I could interpret a satellite image before taking this class. However, after taking this course, I think I have a more precise understanding of satellite imagery, its fundamental concepts, and their processing to unveil the nature of the spectral response of Earth's surface and materials. Therefore, this course is helpful if you want to use remote sensing as a mapping tool.

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

I would recommend graded assignments, more than one quiz, being willing to answer questions and going through labs together as a group (there were 8 people in the class so this could have been very easy to do), and just treating students with respect and acknowledging that yes they may not know a lot in the beginning but that they are willing to learn.

Christopher Small · Fall 2021 · 2026

Lab instructions need to be updated, considering the most recent software version, and if necessary, add more hours to the theoretical lesson, so the hours for lab work would be exclusive to solve the lab. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2021 Course: EESCGU4050_001_2021_3-GLOBALASSMT-REMOTESENSING : EESCGU4050_001_2021_3 - GLOBAL ASSMT- REMOTE SENSING Instructor: Christopher Small

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

The basics of remote sensing and how to interpret and identify structures using remote sensing data.

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

fundamentals of remote sensing, theory and applications

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

I learned how to Use ENVI to interpret satellite imagery. I was also exposed to the physics of remote sensing

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

how to use ENVI, physics of remote sensing, spectral analysis, some basic EOF/spectral decomposition math

Christopher Small · 2026 · 2026

You need to be familiar with Envi. Does not take the time to explain how to use this program.
