EESC GR6001

There have been a variety of presenters that have spoken on many topics regarding earth sciences for this colloquium, which provides students with a breadth of knowledge on different earth science topics.

Some lecturers in different disciplines present at a level that is too high for students studying in different areas. Lectures need to be more accessible and not full of high level jargon. Also, the manager of the colloquium (Kevin Uno) has been disrespectful of the student strike. Hopefully this class will be back in person soon.

Some additional knowledge was gained on the broad earth sciences.

I learned about different and exciting research topics.

For most of the topics outside of my field, I would be able to follow the seminars for the first 10 mins or so, but then the research would get too specific for me to follow. The talks that were relevant and a good use of my time were those in my area or tangentially related to my area of research. Otherwise the talks were not a good use of my time.

I did not learn much. I feel that the class clearly was more geared to students that work in climate. As a student in the solid earth field, I am disappointed with the diversity in the speakers that were brought in.
