Latin American And Iberian Cultures · Columbia University
So so so much. This professor made learning portuguese feel like a quick and easy process.
I highly highly recommend this course for anybody interested in Portuguese and Brazilian culture. I learned so much about Brazil and got to practice so much Portuguese. I think the professor truly made this course amazing though! She is so understanding and recognizes the faults of a classroom environment for learning languages. I love love herrrr 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Spring 2024 Course: PORTUN2120_001_2024_1-COMPREHENSIVEINTERMEDPORT : PORTUN2120_001_2024_1 - COMPREHENSIVE INTERMED PORT Instructor: Ana Paula Huback
Informative but also relatively low stress way to complete the global core requirement. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Spring 2023 Course: PORTUN3490_001_2023_1-BRAZILIANSOCIETY&CIV(ENG) : PORTUN3490_001_2023_1 - BRAZILIAN SOCIETY & CIV (ENG) Instructor: Joao Nemi Neto
I learned how to read, write, speak, and understand Portuguese. I feel comfortable conducting a conversation in Portuguese, writing multiple page essays, and watching movies in the language after taking this course. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who knows Spanish and is hoping to gain a basic understanding of Portuguese. The class moves fast, but you learn SO much.
Verbs that are most commonly used. Present tense, and past tense. Pronunciations of the words and some basic grammar rules.
I have no recommendations or improvements that I would provide. This is a perfect course, and taking Portuguese at Columbia was one of the best decisions that I ever made during my time here. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2022 Course: PORTUN2120_001_2022_3-COMPREHENSIVEINTERMEDPORT : PORTUN2120_001_2022_3 - COMPREHENSIVE INTERMED PORT Instructor: Ana Paula Huback
review of elementary 1 verb tenses, plus subjunctive and conditional vocab generally for everyday life learned a lot of Brazilian music and culture, in addition to some artists from other lusophone countries
I would recommend this class both for the material, the format, and the instructor. All three of them made this semester a positive experience for me, and I would definitely recommend anyone with even a slight interest in Brazil to take it, whatever form that interest takes. Students are encouraged to participate and even attend events related to the class outside of teaching hours. Various relevant locations/art pieces in New York were discussed as well, which obviously being in New York, was a cool way to connect with a country in another hemisphere. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2022 Course: PORTUN3490_001_2022_3-BRAZILIANSOCIETY&CIV(ENG) : PORTUN3490_001_2022_3 - BRAZILIAN SOCIETY & CIV (ENG) Instructor: Joao Nemi Neto
