Spoken Portuguese. The class has a good component of both written and spoken Portuguese. Unlike some other elementary language courses, Ana Paula's Portuguese class prepares you to engage in conversations in Portuguese.
I learned the present and past subjunctive tense. I learned a lot of new Portuguese vocabulary. I learned new sentence constructions, how to do comparatives, how to structure conditionals.

In terms of language skills, I learned a great deal of Portuguese grammar and vocabulary, and was able to test out new grammatical forms in context. The exercises and topics of discussion also revealed a lot about contemporary life in Brazil (culture, health, politics, economics, etc.).

The course is very conversational. You primarily learn by speaking with other students and doing guided exercises.

Professor Ana Paula did a fantastic job keeping the class engaged at all points during the entire lesson. We were constantly learning and picking up new grammar and general language tricks!
