Spoken Portuguese. The class has a good component of both written and spoken Portuguese. Unlike some other elementary language courses, Ana Paula's Portuguese class prepares you to engage in conversations in Portuguese.

past tense, future tense, subjunctive tenses, conditional and other important grammar necessary to be able to speak correctly. Also learned about some Brazilian musicians and some informal language used.

All the different verb tenses and conjugations, and increased knowledge of Brazilian culture.

Very little homework. Students choose reading they find interesting in the beginning of the year, and they make up most of the homework, 10 min max. Mostly presentations, with a couple quizzes, nothing difficult.

A lot of portuguese! and a lot of brazilian culture!

I learned so much in this course. We specifically covered many grammar subjects, but we interspersed writing / speaking skills with cultural knowledge. That was very valuable to me because it made for an immersive experience in the course. We had many helpful discussions, often changing course to discuss a current event or politics. This was helpful because we were able to learn (through practice) vocabulary that we will likely use in the future.

I learned the present and past subjunctive tense. I learned a lot of new Portuguese vocabulary. I learned new sentence constructions, how to do comparatives, how to structure conditionals.

I learned not only about Portuguese, in regards to aspects like grammar, vocabulary, as well as how to use it in a more colloquial manner, but I also learned a lot more about Brazilian culture.

I learned so much about Brazilian Portuguese. I honed my grammar, vocabulary, writing, and speaking skills. I appreciated that Ana Paula taught us about colloquial Brazilian Portuguese as well as the academic/formal register so that we can truly become natural speakers.
