I learned more about the field of social psychology through various foundational experiments.

Three exams worth 85% of your grade and your lowest score is dropped. Weekly discussion posts worth 15% of your grade and basically graded on completion. It is a very manageable class and the content is actually enjoyable. If you are looking for a class to take, I cannot recommend Kaufman more!

There were two exams a midterm and a final (noncumulative) these were online and between 50-75 multiple choice questions. It was basically like can you apply these concepts....no trick questions. A small super light-weight partner project and basically weekly discussion posts. Attendance was also tracked, but not factored into our grade. However I think she has a decent idea of whos attending class and whos not. A 8ish question short answer style HW sheet that took no more than 1.5 hours to do (if even that)....that was every 2 weeks or so. Super light-weight imo.

As the semester progressed, the material kept involving a lot of politics and information that may not be objective. While the workload is reasonable, I don't recommend taking this class if you aren't interested in politics or controversial viewpoints.

This class was my favorite that I have taken at Barnard. Kaufman is very kind and such a helpful professor who truly cares about each of his students. The class itself is a lecture based class and Kaufman frequently brings in his own stories or experiences to help support the class material. The lecture slides are very visual based and easy to understand and I was always super engaged in class. Trust me, you will actually want to go each day!

She was great. I'm an Economics major and needed to fulfill a requirement and this class was perfect. Not only is the content interesting and relevant to basically just living life, but she is a great professor. Super smart, caring, and just willing to help her students. I would recommend this class to anyone trying to fill a requirement, take a chill class, learn about relationships, experiences, etc, or just needing some additional credits for a semester. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO take the corresponding lab...which is a major plus! Take her!!!!! (I would also take her again for nearly any other class she is teaching because she was that fab)

This was my first class with Professor Leach, and I honestly wouldn't take another class with him again. Pros: His lectures were pretty clear, exams were straight forward, not too difficult I would say it was a pretty straight-forward class, you can do well in exams just by going to class and doing two short psych paper readings a week. Cons: Inflexible in assignment due dates, reused exam prep questions We have a weekly 500-word reading response that is due before the first Tuesday lecture of the week. Instead of turning it in right before class, I turned it in the evening the same day of the class, and he did not accept it. I'm not the type of student who asks for extensions or tries to ask the professor to raise my grade, but this one time I asked him to please accept my late homework (again, 12 hours late). He said no twice, and the homework lowered my overall grade 9 points, from a 95 to 86

Professor Stroessner is a great lecturer! He provides interesting examples related to education policy, the legal system, and discrimination (his area of research), which makes class fun and engaging. There are four exams during the course of the semester, none of which are cumulative. He requires you to read the textbook, but I looked up the terms at the end of each chapter an hour before each exam and it's worked out very well. On the first day of the class, he will say he doesn't curve - but it's not actually true. He curves at the end of the course, not each individual exam. Highly recommend!
