Not bad. 3 exams. Do the reading. Attend lectures, and really pay attention to her examples.
Very easy, exams are all on Zoom, no weekly work aside from discussion post
A lot of busywork at the beginning, then a final group project that takes up most of the semester and ends with a presentation and a final paper (all in a group)
Stupidly heavy, especially when considering the fact that she explicitly said that she would try to give us the work load you might expect from a 1.5 credit course.
She's an okay professor. Her lectures are pretty clear, and her examples really do help clarify concepts. The trouble comes when you attempt to speak with her outside of class. She is very unapproachable and at times straight up hurtful. One time I saw a girl leave her office crying uncontrollably. My roommate even considered speaking to the administration about withdrawing from her class after emotional torment over e-mail. The bottom line is that she gets the job done and will teach you psychology, and she is clearly passionate about what she does. BUT BEWARE. This comes at a cost. You would think Barnard/Columbia would want professors to inspire their students and break them down to build them up...not break them down for the sake of breaking them down. She clearly has some issues and projects them onto her students. College is a trying time due to workload..no student needs emotional abuse on top of that. Barnard, please someone with teaching skills AND compassion.
Supremely mid. She kind of rambles and just reads off slides. Class was easy though.
Professor Davis is really nice and approachable, and he definitely wants his students to succeed. I think he might have taken note of some of the reviews on here, because he now gives extremely detailed instructions for every assignment he gives. Every assignment is clearly laid out so you know exactly what he is looking for. Yes, a lot of the work is busywork, but it isn't very difficult, and it is almost all done in groups, so that leaves much less work for everyone individually. All in all, this wasn't a very difficult lab and Professor Davis is very nice and understanding. I would not necessarily recommend taking personality psych, because I found the lecture half of it terrible, but the lab is definitely not the reason why the class was so bad.
Lab Review: Professor Etengoff can come off as very friendly and smiley, but once you have enough exposure to her, her condescension becomes increasingly apparent. For some reason, she speaks to her students as if we are toddlers yet gives us an obscene amount of work. Each week, you are given an assignment that will add to your final paper, yet she gives almost no direction for the final paper itself, except a long list of extremely picky details.
2 chapters of textbook reading and 1-2 journal articles per week (do it all) and 3 exams mostly based on the reading
60%: Three (50-item) Multi-Choice Exams (20% each exam). 15%: Written Book Review for Attached. 15%: Written Book Review for Mirror Meditation. 10%: Class Participation via Class Discussion Boards. As long as you post on the discussion boards you'll get an 100. Seems everyone got 100s on the book reviews as long as they fit the word count. A 90-100 is allegedly an A, 80-89 a B, etc etc — seems to be no +s or -s
