Weekly homework assignments with 1 week to complete, 1 midterm, 1 final. The median for the midterm was between 40 and 50, but she curves to a B/B+. The workload was mostly okay, but there was always one question in the homework that our TA would have to help us solve because almost nobody knew how to do it.
12 homeworks with 10 textbook problems a week, drops worst two, worth 20% of your grade but it's actually worth nothing since everyone gets 100% so it doesn't affect curve 1 Midterm - 35% 1 Final - 45%
psets were Wiley like 1401, easier exams than Raymer, covered less than Raymer, hard to get A+
Homework is well-chosen and useful but plentiful and difficult; sometimes you could do without all the math he makes you slog through.
There are two grading schemes. 10 PSETs (20%/25%), 2 Midterms (40%/25% highest), 10 Recitations (10%/12.5%), 1 Final (30%/37.5%). The lowest PSET is dropped. Grading is fair, and if you spend a little time reviewing each week you'll be fine.
PSETS are long but almost every question is online so if you get stuck you will be able to figure it out and should get 100% on all of them. Midterm and Final is challenging but not any different then most exams in this course with other professors.
Didn't expect much as it's a SEAS requirement. Karagiorgi was pretty enthusiastic about physics which was great, but it sometimes felt like she was just speedrunning getting her notes on the board without waiting to make sure we understood or not. We fell behind her planned schedule about halfway through the semester, making her rush to squeeze as much content as possible and leaving most of the class confused. Additionally, she does not reply to emails and her office hours don't work for a lot of people, so it is a lot of self-learning if you have no familiarity with the content. The content was somewhat interesting at times, but even my TA admitted that Karagiorgi was sometimes introducing us to topics that were too advanced and niche for this class.
It's difficult to understand his lecturing - fortunately, he posts his lecture notes online which summarize the topics you need to know and study. Homeworks are useless as they are insanely difficult and have nothing to do with the tests, so most people just look online for the solutions. Midterm and Tests are about applying equations from an equation sheet with a few conceptual questions - the averages are usually in the 60%, which he curves to a B. I ended the class with an A- with no prior understanding of the class but still have no idea of what I have learned. Take the class if you can self study the material and watch lectures online, but don't expect to learn from just going to class and doing the homeworks, but at least his tests and finals are somewhat reasonable (unlike other teachers who have 20-30% averages).
not hard, easier than AP Physics C E&M. he was pretty good for his first time teaching
I can at least say that this guy knows his stuff. He's a good lecture, but as with many other physics teachers it's pretty common to be completely lost in his classes. If you're awake and you know what he's talking about, it's not a bad lecture to sit through. He does tend to stray off into needless detail on some derivations, but you can't really escape that with physics classes.
