What students said

PHYS C1402 · Summer 2025

Weekly homework assignments with 1 week to complete, 1 midterm, 1 final. The median for the midterm was between 40 and 50, but she curves to a B/B+. The workload was mostly okay, but there was always one question in the homework that our TA would have to help us solve because almost nobody knew how to do it.

PHYS GR6050 · Fall 2024

Standard Model, QED, Weak Interactions, Neutrinos

PHYS UN3072 · Spring 2021

some of the current research questions about particle physics

PHY S1401 · Fall 2025

It's really obvious that Prof Karagiorgi isn't a great teacher although her research might be interesting. Lectures don't prepare you for exams, she openly says she never responds to emails. Not sure what could be worse.

PHYS C1402 · Summer 2025

Didn't expect much as it's a SEAS requirement. Karagiorgi was pretty enthusiastic about physics which was great, but it sometimes felt like she was just speedrunning getting her notes on the board without waiting to make sure we understood or not. We fell behind her planned schedule about halfway through the semester, making her rush to squeeze as much content as possible and leaving most of the class confused. Additionally, she does not reply to emails and her office hours don't work for a lot of people, so it is a lot of self-learning if you have no familiarity with the content. The content was somewhat interesting at times, but even my TA admitted that Karagiorgi was sometimes introducing us to topics that were too advanced and niche for this class.

PHYS GR6050 · Fall 2024

QED, Electroweak, cross calculations, and neutrinos physics.

PHYS UN3072 · Spring 2021

Not recommend but it is a requirement... 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Spring 2021 Course: PHYSUN3072_001_2021_1-SEMINCURRENTRES.PROBLEMS : PHYSUN3072_001_2021_1 - SEM IN CURRENT RES. PROBLEMS Instructor: Georgia Karagiorgi

PHYS C1402 · Summer 2025

Psets on Wiley plus, recitation, and extra studying for midterms. Pretty standardized amongst all intro physics courses.

PHYS C1402 · Summer 2025

The class was fine, although I didn't have high expectations since this is a SEAS requirement. Karagiorgi is an okay lecturer but the worst part is she openly says she never replies to emails which is not a good thing. Even when you have questions or if there is an issue with Wiley Plus, you're on your own if you can't make her office hours times.

PHYS C1402 · Summer 2025

Recitations: 10% Homework: 20% Midterm: 35% Final: 35% If your final is higher, it is weighted 70% and the midterm is dropped. Wiley+ takes 2-3 hours to complete. Outside of lecture, prepare to study for 3-4 hours a week.
