Math Methods for Economists · Economics
Math needed to support learning in other subjects such as macro and micro economics
Logic, set theory, real analysis, calculus, optimization, integration, measure theory, probability, dynamic programming
Lagrange, measure theory, matrix, continuity, limit.... very useful to calculate the econ problems.
Real analysis, functions, linear algebra, derivatives, correspondence, optimization, integration, measure theory and probability, Markov Chain, dynamic programming
Linking math and econ and thinking about the application are important.
Various advanced math tools; real analysis, measure theory
the course prepared me well to understand the math required for my other economics modules.
Nothing, I learnt nothing and it was a mere race to learn nothing. It was so fast paced that I got no time to understand anything. Had to study only from an exam's perspective. There is abundant scope of restructuring. MATH cannot be taught through definitions on slides.
We covered a wide range of math topics, especially in Real Analysis. Measure theory and Probability based on Measure theory constitutes most of the materials in the second half of the semester.
Basic coverage of the following topics and their application in economics: Real analysis, Multivariate Calculus, Linear Algebra, Set theory, Optimization, Markov Chains.
