RUSS V2102 · Spring 2025

20% homework, 20% tests, 20% performance/participation, 15% final presentation, 15% final exam. I found the final presentation, on a country from the former SSR, interesting and engaging. We had lots of time to prepare our work.

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

A lot of new vocab, better grasp on grammar structure.

RUSS UN1101 · Fall 2023

There is a large volume of work involved with this class, as expected (4 days a week, worth 5 credits), but it is very doable. You learn so much in this class, and it is very rewarding if you are someone who is motivated to learn the language. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2023 Course: RUSSUN1101_003_2023_3-FIRST-YEARRUSSIANI : RUSSUN1101_003_2023_3 - FIRST-YEAR RUSSIAN I Instructor: Marina Grineva

RUSS V2102 · Spring 2025

Marina is a great professor. I really enjoyed second-year Russian with her. We covered a lot of material, including prefixed and unprefixed verbs of motion, participles and verbal adverbs, and imperative forms.

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

I have gained a lot of knowledge throughout this course. This is not my first time taking Russian, but I feel like my knowledge and understanding of the language's structure and grammar has grown exponentially. I feel like my abilities to translate, speak, read, and write have all grown immensely.

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

I would not recommend anyone take a language if they are a Master's student because of the work load, but if they have their heart set on it, Professor Grineva is the way to go

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

Professor Grineva is excellent, and she is incredibly knowledgeable. She does a great job of correcting without discouraging, which I have found to be vital when learning a language. You will have to do the work, but if you do you will learn a lot. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2024 Course: RUSSUN2101_001_2024_3-SECOND-YEARRUSSIANI : RUSSUN2101_001_2024_3 - SECOND-YEAR RUSSIAN I Instructor: Marina Grineva

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

So much new grammar, though it takes me a long time to drill it in. We covered so much new material and can express so much more.

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

Thank you Marina, I am profoundly grateful to you for enabling my learning objectives.

RUSS UN2101 · Fall 2024

A lot of grammar review that I felt was very effective in terms of drilling it in our minds.
