A lot of new vocab, better grasp on grammar structure.

Jamie Bennett · 2022 · 2022

A LOT about Russian. We mostly focused on mastering use of the cases; we did some other grammar too, but this was the main focus of the semester.

Marina Grineva · 2024 · 2024

I have gained a lot of knowledge throughout this course. This is not my first time taking Russian, but I feel like my knowledge and understanding of the language's structure and grammar has grown exponentially. I feel like my abilities to translate, speak, read, and write have all grown immensely.

Jamie Bennett · 2022 · 2022

It's a lot of work; if you only care about fulfilling the language requirement, you should just take a different language.

Marina Grineva · 2024 · 2024

I would not recommend anyone take a language if they are a Master's student because of the work load, but if they have their heart set on it, Professor Grineva is the way to go

Marina Grineva · Fall 2024 · 2024

Professor Grineva is excellent, and she is incredibly knowledgeable. She does a great job of correcting without discouraging, which I have found to be vital when learning a language. You will have to do the work, but if you do you will learn a lot. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2024 Course: RUSSUN2101_001_2024_3-SECOND-YEARRUSSIANI : RUSSUN2101_001_2024_3 - SECOND-YEAR RUSSIAN I Instructor: Marina Grineva

So much new grammar, though it takes me a long time to drill it in. We covered so much new material and can express so much more.

Marina Grineva · 2024 · 2024

Thank you Marina, I am profoundly grateful to you for enabling my learning objectives.

Marina Grineva · 2024 · 2024

A lot of grammar review that I felt was very effective in terms of drilling it in our minds.
