This class was great because not only did I greatly improve my Swahili grammar and vocabulary, but I learned so much cultural and political context to East Africa. We learned about the significance of Mau Mau in Kenya's fight for independence through the reading of a novel, we read articles on various cultural beliefs, and we read current news articles in Swahili. I loved the content of this course.
Writing, reading, and analysing in Kiswahili
I highly recommend this class for those wishing to learn Swahili and more about the continent. It was a privilege to get to hear Mwalimu Nanji's perspectives on historical and current events. Discussions in this class are very interesting.
