PSYC GU4265

I learnt a lot about the structure of the human and animal auditory systems (and also how little we knew about them). I am also inspired by the rigorous scientific methodology.

I learned about the history of the field of auditory neuroscience and several of the most famous findings that steered the directions of the field in both animals and humans.

Recommend to those who really want to learn interpreting scientific paper effectively and any sonicphile.

I gained a much better understanding of the auditory system as we explored papers of increasing complexity.

I came into this course with solid understandings of sound and behavior, but very little neuroscience knowledge. I had read few research papers, and I got a little nervous when seeing just how complicated neuro research papers are. I went to office hours, and Professor Woolley walked me through the basics of reading research papers. After this, I continued to attend office hours and I did the work. Over time, I became incredibly interested in the field, and found myself reading papers significantly quicker and more accurately without as much help. Now, when I read psych papers they feel pretty simple, and neuro papers are pretty doable.
