This course introduces students to seminal studies in comparative politics, so it is useful for those who have never studied the field before. Thanks to this course, those with some background knowledge will gain a deeper understanding of the major theories and concepts. Furthermore, this course makes students think more about their reactions to readings, theories, and arguments. While writing my response papers, I learned how to summarize the most significant points and organize my thoughts better.

Overview of the CP literature on citizen and politician's political behavior. Learned about key topics, theories, and methods in CP.
I read about different topics in comparative politics and learn about how different literatures interact and connect with each other.
I learned much more about game theory and redistribution. I was also forced to become better at synthesizing my thoughts for class discussions and response papers.
I gained a very comprehensive overview of the main theories, debates, and topics of comparative politics.
I learned about both historical and recent literature on micro-level behaviors in comparative politics.
I'd recommend this class as a strong overview of comparative politics, especially with Professor Murillo; she is very knowledgeable and though she comes across as very intense and demanding (especially in the beginning), she knows a lot and is very good at pushing your ideas in class discussions.
