This course introduces students to seminal studies in comparative politics, so it is useful for those who have never studied the field before. Thanks to this course, those with some background knowledge will gain a deeper understanding of the major theories and concepts. Furthermore, this course makes students think more about their reactions to readings, theories, and arguments. While writing my response papers, I learned how to summarize the most significant points and organize my thoughts better.
This course teaches you both practical skills and a bunch of interesting perspectives on voting & information. It also prompts one to carry out their own project of their own interest. I learned much more about game theory and redistribution. I was also forced to become better at synthesizing my thoughts for class discussions and response papers.
I learned about both historical and recent literature on micro-level behaviors in comparative politics.
The course is rigorous and changes the way students engage with and consume research.
