Compositions, and that's about it (seriously). He sometimes randomly assigns pages from the workbook, but he only skims those on quiz days to make sure they're completed. Quizzes occur every now and then, but they're so easy that I eventually stopped studying. There is also Dante, which was not my favorite thing to memorize, but it's relatively pain-free. Oh, how I will miss not doing work...

I feel I had to spend hardly any time at all on the course in comparison to earlier ones—hey, a net positive, right? Less work. Well, not really, because if the goal is to learn a language, you need to be engaged with it on a near constant basis and be encouraged and motivated to persist with it. These were sorely lacking in the class. The grades that were assigned felt more like participation trophies than a true reflection of my knowledge of the material. I feel I would have just been better off studying the language on my own and seeking out native speakers to practice with.

Typical...quizzes every two to three weeks, hw every night from txtbk or extra handouts, midterm, final, final oral presentation, labs once a week.

Quizzes bi-weekly or so that review straightforward concepts (not too hard); a handful of 30 word written compositions that, if you write in simple sentences and check for spelling and such, you will get good grades on; exercises from the workbook that once again, are doable. Midterm and final--midterm is basically just another quiz, final is longer but not too scary.

The same random assignments that the department requires profs to dole out every now and then. Semi-regular quizzes that Lilly marks up and has you correct. A few presentations that are very open and easy to complete. And don't worry about turning things in late. Ah, how I will miss Lilly.

Professor Di Nino is excellent at keeping subject matter interesting and fresh by integrating media and visuals into his coursework. He is energetic and brings out the same enthusiasm from his students. His exercises are appropriate, effective, and directly related to the material on quizzes. They are also obviously put together with consideration for his current class. He is a great person and a great instructor! He is thoughtful, and he genuinely cares about the success of his students. I went to his office hours (but he actually receives you anytime you need him) and he was incredible helpful. He remembered pieces from my compositions and reminded me of them to hel me understand concept.
