This course was incredibly helpful to me personally, putting experiences I had always felt "alone" into a broader historical context.

I learned a lot about gay people throughout history and how they were perceived, accepted, and abused by the dominant culture.

I learned both about LGBTQ+ history in the United States and about the varying perspectives of the individuals that made up the gay rights movement and opposed the movement.

I learned about my classmates perspectives

I was able to learn about US Lesbian and Gay History in a discussion section.

I learned about the development of queer relationships and culture and the conversations around it from 1600 to the present. I analyzed primary sources and collected oral histories.

I gained a broader perspectives on the readings, and we had some really good and interesting discussions.

An overview of queer history from the mid to late 1800s till contemporary times. Really enriching, but most of the information intake happens in lecture. Section focuses on the many readings assigned for this course and is like a little book club.
