Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much I learned in this course, since this is aimed at helping students write a senior essay, but I'm not sure if I was able to make substantial progress. We read many critical sources, some of which were interesting, but I was left unsure how most of them tied to the overall objective of helping students write a senior essay.
This class has been God-sent. Every single assignment and discussion helped me with my senior essay, and as Professor Peters says, we are ahead of the game. If you plan on writing your English Senior Thesis, you'll appreciate the opportunity of taking this class.
I learned a lot about different techniques I can use to help make the writing process for my dissertation easier, and got a lot of useful advice from other students, faculty members and alumni!
How to set up myself up for success in long-term writing projects.
In terms of content, this course was like a more niche, slightly higher level of LCTM. I liked the assigned readings quite a bit. I also got some practice generating and refining research plans.
This class taught how to think about developing a senior thesis over time. We also looked at a few example senior theses.
strategies to manage longer writing projects more effectively, strategies to work effectively with large numbers of complex sources, practices that make it easier to think through writing, valuable drafting skills.
