Math Methods for Economists · Economics
Math needed to support learning in other subjects such as macro and micro economics
Basic math for economists, some parts already familiar from math undergrad
Lagrange, measure theory, matrix, continuity, limit.... very useful to calculate the econ problems.
Various useful maths topics in economics, a clear way of presenting maths concepts.
Mathematical Analysis, Linear Algebra, Optimization Theory, Measure Theory, Structural VAR
Linking math and econ and thinking about the application are important.
I learned about a suite of tools and mathematical principles that undergird the study of economics, especially macroeconomics. Our primary goal was to build up to the dynamic programming used in macroeconomic models (via fixed point theorems), but we also covered topics in linear algebra and stochastic calculus. I especially appreciated coverage of Markov processes, which I had been meaning to teach myself but hadn't gotten to.
General maths which is necessary for economists
the course prepared me well to understand the math required for my other economics modules.
Recap of things I already knew + new knowledge on dynamic programming, supermodular games, positive matrices and stochastic calculus.
