Organic chemistry techniques: recrystallization, TLC analysis, reflux, NMR and IR spectral analysis.
It's a required course for pre-meds and chemistry majors, but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have to take it.
You learn a lot about organic chemistry, especially different reaction mechanisms, but it is a tough class with a big workload for only 1.5 credits.
Orgo Lab was an intense but fun way to learn. It really complemented the lectures well- and was a great way to hear concepts again explained differently.
Anna was approachable, engaging, and caring. Siddiqui is really good. Her quizzes are difficult yes, but use the practice quizzes and be ready for some challenging “why was x reagent used” or Le Chateliers principle questions. Pretty straightforward otherwise.
I strengthened a lot of the lab skills I learned last semester, and also learned some more complex apparatus setups, such as those for experiments that required heating under reflux. I also learned more how to interpret IR and H NMR spectra through frequent practice.
