For the number of credits it was simply too much work and stress. I would recommend taking the course with Professor Ghurbanyan if a student does have to take this course due to a requirement, but if it's not a requirement I wouldn't suggest anybody put themselves through the ringer with this class.
I learned Chapter 1-14 of the openstax orgo textbook.
I learned basic organic chemistry concepts and the applications thereof
Principles of extraction, principles of recrystallization, TLC and polarity of functional groups, column chromatography, principles of spectroscopy
This course at least with Doubleday involves a lot of self-teaching because sometimes lecture can be confusing. Its best to read ahead and come with questions but most times reading the textbook and watching some videos along with practice questions should be enough. All previous exams are released which reflect what your actual exam will be so study that and you should be fine.
The course is very good for folks interested in chemistry
I really enjoyed the course, but I felt like the material was presented in a more complicated way than necessary.
Use the support, go to office hours, and you will be successful. The lab techniques were useful, interesting, and very different from those used in inorganic chemistry. It was fascinating to see just how broadly the principles of organic chemistry could be used across industries and academic fields.
