I learned more about the history of the field of anthropology, as well as more about the central concepts and themes of cultural anthropology.
I learned different perspectives on culture and cultural artifacts from the Western traditions of sociology, anthropology, and philosophy.
Learned the key texts and ideas of the discipline, semi-learned how to think about things like an anthropologist.
Very reasonable for all of her classes. She is very open to extensions if necessary. Do not let her classes be a sources of stress for you, she does not want that. A very fair and holistic grader.
Three "mini-terms" (to insure you never have a break), weekly reading summaries (1 pg each and the bane of every students existence), about 50 pgs of reading a week (the readings are never enjoyable) and a final that may or may not change at the last minute!
2 papers A midterm and a Final Tons of reading, but you don't have quizzes, it's just for discussion. Pretty moderate.
3 written assignments (10% each) 1 midterm (take-home, open notes) 1 final (take-home, open notes) Participation grade in discussion section
My section opted for each person to complete summaries on each of the works we read in class, and post them on Courseworks. If possible, suggest it for the final! Otherwise, nothing else besides the reading required for the class.
