Methods for conducting an ethnography, and different contexts in which Anthropologists have used them. Also looked at many different ways of writing or compiling an ethnography, depending on what the researcher wants to communicate and what questions they are investigating.

This course focused on key examples on how to write a proper ethnography. Through both participant observation and research, students chose a specific location to study.

An engagement with a really interesting range of ethnography and ethnographic practices from the more traditional to the truly unconventional and multi-sensorial.

The course provided a great overview of different ethnographic possibilities and helped me build an understanding of what an ethnography should strive to achieve!

I very much enjoyed this course. I felt that the pacing was excellent and the discussion was almost always lively (some topics lent more to discussion than others). I really liked the comradery that was developed among the students and professor as well. The choice of material gave both a broad understanding of the idea of an ethnography as well as more specific examples of ideas we could incorporate into our own, both of which I found very useful.
