In this course we covered the fundamentals of Freud. I learned to think more analytically and to encounter his corpus with less bias. The instructors, as well as the visiting instructors, did a good job of providing frameworks and scaffolding.
This course does a good job at walking you through the long arc of Freud's work, even thought it does not even attempt to be comprehensive (which is impossible given the constraints of time).
I learned a ridiculous amount--we had the privilege to study pure theory for three or four months, and this is some of the best stuff out there. To ask about new perspective is almost unanswerable. Studying Freud gives you THE perspectives in the form of incredible insights into the way we all work, individually, with each other, and in society as a whole.
