Discussion sections were not particularly valuable additions to my learning in this class because though the primary sources were interesting in and of themselves, discussions were not particularly rich and did not advance my thinking about particular topics. The lectures were much more helpful.

I learned the history of the Ottoman Empire, various historiographic approaches, and problems with common misconceptions. Further feedback left on the other response.

We elaborated on a lot of the readings every week and we defined a lot of the terms many of us didn't know much about. Very informative and knowledgable.
