I was surprised at how many Chinese characters I was able to learn in such a short amount of time. I had to manage a lot of my time around this course, but the extra effort helped me to succeed.

I love this course so much. Under Professor Peng's guidance, I elevate my reading, writing, and speaking skills into new heights and at the same time, I delve more into Chinese literature and culture.

I learned not only about Modern Chinese, but also about the Modern Chinese literature. I did not expect to learn this much.

This course was essentially a kick starter in Chinese - you will learn a lot in a short amount of time.

From close reading to the text to present your own analysis at the final project presentation. It was a very fulfilling experience of learning, combining the history, literature, linguistic, and even some psychology theories.

In this class, I realize just how fun language learning can be. It feels like such a safe and supportive environment where you can genuinely practice language learning for the sake of language learning.

I learned how to write, listen, and speak beginner's Chinese. I also learned that learning Chinese is something I wish to continue doing throughout my education.
