Professor Wilks creates a pretty reasonable workload. For Fro Sci, there was a weekly homework, proton assignment (basic skills review), and a post-lecture quiz due at midnight the day before seminar. There are some additional readings/prep for activities. The readings don't show up too much in seminar or on exams at all, so those aren't pressing. You should do the activity prep, but can get by without if you forget. Also a a semester project (fairly easy, don't overthink it) and a scientist presentation (also easy).

Spent 1-2 hours outside of class time. Most assignments graded for completion, including Argos. Homework is marked complete if above 85%, but you are given the opportunity to make corrections after feedback. Assignments aligned with all of FroSci: Weekly discussion post/argos/HW/readings, midterm, final, and final project.

Professor Wilks is a good seminar instructor. My Fro Sci class was pretty quiet and not super engaged, so it wasn't always the most stimulating, but I think she made a decent effort toward the class and is probably a really good prof when it comes to her particular subject. The activities seemed to edge toward busy work, and often made the material more confusing rather than less. Unfortunately, Fro Sci is a required course; exams are by far more difficult than class work. Prof Wilks can't really balance this out, but is probably one of the easier seminar instructors for Fro Sci.

Very nice professor who reviews lecture content very well. Class time spent reviewing content, answering questions, and completing activities. Definitely glad to have taken FroSci with her!

We had activities during every seminar, homework, weekly quizzes, weekly readings, proton lessons, and, of course, the midterm and final, Grading was as follows: - Lecture attendance 5% - Seminar 55% - Seminar participation 10% - Homework assignments 15% - Proton 5% - Quiz completion 5% - Semester project 15% - Scientist spotlight 5% - Midterm Exam: 15% - Final Exam: 25% Although it seems like a lot, it really didn't take that much to complete. The homeworks definitely took the most of my time. I will note that she is one of the few frosci professors who grades the homework based on accuracy but if you got an 85 or higher on them she counted it as 100 and allowed regrades.

Everything was completion except the homework. you had to score an 85% or higher to get a 100. HOWEVER, she lets you make corrections until you get at least an 85%, so do not be scared by that at all. She has weekly review quizzes (unlimited attempts and only completion) and discussion boards that take max 10 minutes to complete both. In terms of workload, she is standard for any fro sci class.

First of all, I don't particularly like science that much but Prof. Wilks made this class so doable. She's such a sweet person and structures her seminars so that they're not just a repeat of the lectures. She provides a ton of extra, supplementary material to study for the midterm/final and makes an obvious effort to make her class fun/interesting.

Honestly, I think Stefanie Wilks might be the best Fro Sci professor out of all of them. It is so obvious that she actually cares that all her students understand the material. She looks for every opportunity to give partial credit. She responds to emails quicker than any teacher I have ever had. She is the most understanding teacher. She put so much time into crafting review sessions that were ACTUALLY helpful and relevant to the information that was on the exams. She also makes review videos that cover EVERYTHING you need to know for literally every lecture that are just 20 minutes. She takes a 90 minute lecture, and teaches it just as effectively in 20. Those videos SAVED my fro sci experience. Take her if you have the choice!

Light to medium. Weekly homework questions (30 min), online course (20 min), reading (usually not necessary). I studied more for the midterm than the final. Final is not cumulative and you get a cheat sheet on both exams.

I thought Professor Wilks was really nice and helpful. I did not have to pay much attention in seminar at all to end with an A in the class. She grades the homeworks for correctness (above 85% is full points), so make sure you try to answer for accuracy. I attended her office hours sometimes and I found her to be very helpful with my questions regarding the homework questions. The semester project is light -- just complete everything that is asked of you and you will end with a good grade. Would definitely recommend her as a professor.
