Professor Jasova was amazing!! Definitely one of the best courses I've taken at Barnard. As someone who wasn't super confident in the material going in, Professor Jasova's teaching style worked extremely well. She's super organized, explains all content thoroughly, answers questions well, and is very approachable and impressive. She makes the content interesting and relevant. The course itself was very well-structured and you know what to expect on homework/exams. 100% recommend this course for anyone interested in economics.

6 Take home Quizzes, 4 Problem sets, Midterm, Final. I thought that the grading was super fair and lenient. All assignments are meant to be doable and to help you understand the concepts, not to make your life a living hell. The Problem sets would maybe take 2 hours and the quizzes would be like 30min. The workload for this class was not crazy at all and extremely useful in helping practice the material. Final is non cumulative and again nothing is supposed to make your life hard. As long as you pay attention in lecture and try to understand macroeconomics, easy A.

I loved this class! It was so interesting and miles above Barnard's Intro to Econ Reasoning in terms of the logic of organization and the way it was taught. Prof. Jasova is a gem. She clearly actually enjoys working with students and cared that we were following along with what she was saying. She would always stop for questions and would answer whatever we asked. The TA's were great too. I would recommend this class to anyone who has a passing interest in economics as it was super interesting and relevant. 5 stars.

The workload was really reasonable and so was the grading. Every week, there is either a problem set or a short take-home quiz. TAs are very willing to help you out on the homework during their office hours. The only in-person assessments were the midterm and the final exam, which are both only 90 minutes long.

Really great class! Professor Jasova is really good instructor who explains concepts really clearly and is always happy to answer questions. She cultivated a really comfortable classroom environment, shared interesting anecdotes about her career, and had a great sense of humor. The concepts are laid out in a way that made a lot of sense to me and she explained that she put the most math-heavy stuff first so that the course gets easier as it goes on. I only have experience with one of the TAs, Yoel, but he was so amazing and so helpful.

Super manageable. Either one 10q quiz or 1 problem set per week. (no work over breaks :))

BEST professor I have had at Barnard so far. Actually my queen. She is so nice and friendly and lowkey funny. The TAs are AMAZING!!!! They are always willing to get on a 1-1 zoom with you outside of office hours and explain concepts to you super in depth. Exams are tough but fair and class is curved. Every week you either have a 10q quiz or a problem sets. Everything you learn in class is relevant for the assignments and exams. 10/10 class take this over the columbia course if you are a barnard econ major.

There is always either a quiz (~10q) or a problem set (~4q) due every week in an alternating order. The quizzes are typically very straightforward MC questions pulled from the slides but the problem sets are a bit more difficult--if you go to office hours, the TAs will usually go over all of it. There's one midterm and one final; grading was very fair.
