It's all his lecture slides from the textbook he wrote that have a million errors and haven't been modified in years.

Do not take this class. Literally the worst teacher and class I have taken.

I went into the class a little hesitant due to the reviews that people had for him. I will say to you, that most of them aren't truly fair abt how he is. I personally loved his class, and had the chance to take him/alonso and took Uribe. He cares deeply abt what he teaches you, his TA's are good, you just have to go to Class and Pay attention!

I'm not sure how people take this class at 8:40am or in person. The 2x speed recordings saved the course which is mostly pure algebra and formulas. There is very little justification or logic behind and applications of the concept, so the course feels very dry and disconnected especially for an econ course. Psets take long and are rather confusing but TAs help. I do not recommend you take this course with Professor Uribe

HE IS THE WORST. He is a stubborn petty tyrant who treats his students like his subordinates and will NEVER admit he was in the wrong. If you want a class full of impossibly confusing and totally random math tricks, a professor who only uses his own book as material to make his COMPLETELY ERROR RIDDEN SLIDES he never strays from, homework assignments that are downright impossible unless you have a saint TA whose office hours you go to, and exams beyond unrelated to anything you discussed in class or macroeconomics in general, this is the class for you!! If you are reading this and are already in the class, I lived and so did everyone else but it does truly suck so good luck.

There's been a lot of hate surrounding Uribe but he's a great professor. He's really clear in his lectures; a lot of people say that he's too slow with the lectures but I actually think that's a good thing because he takes the time to make sure everything is clear to his students. The TAs for this class though, at least for the Spring 2021 sections, were a bit horrendous. The organization of the class in an online format hasn't been amazing but I'm watching his lectures now before the final, and they're super clear. His line of arguments are well thought out and easy to follow. People who don't like him are just intimidated by the LaTeX equations; his logic is really clear. He's a good professor.

The professor is pretty fair and clear in what he teaches. Honestly thought it would be harder. The only thing is that his sections are pretty early, so make sure to chug on coffee beforehand. The teaching style is a lecture. He writes on the board and explains really well.

not what I expected at all, I thought I would be learning more economics based concepts but that is not true, this is more of a mathematical class that REQUIRES lots and lots of practice and brute memorization. it will seem like you are understanding it in class, but then HW and exam comes around, and you will feel lost unless you have robotically digested every single problem solving method and equation.

After you have read the reviews you should NOT take his class if you are a normal person, but if you want challenges and hell, go ahead. Since you might be reading because you HAVE to take the class for whatever reason, here are some tips. Uribe provides lecture slides but I would recommend reading them BEFORE class or during class, I usually can finish reading the slides and have notes with a good understanding of the material if I start at the beginning of the class. Which echos the points people made that his lecture is 1. boring 2. monotone and slow 3. you don't really know what is important. With that, I would get a crack at the HW in class and try to solve all the problems since most of his HW are mathy tricks that need clarification. Asking him hypothetical questions in class that get answers to HW really helped albeit it takes A LOT OF ENERGY. DO NOT TRY TO LEARN EVERYTHING BEFORE THE EXAM. Because of the way his textbook and lecture are structured, you really don't know what is important and what he is going to test. HW should be taken care of if you just go to class (I personally find lecture notes to be unclear and need further clarification) and TAs taught me everything else. For tests, know the EQUATIONS, he doesn't allow cheat sheet so you really have to put in the work to know them by heart and solve problems with them with math tricks. This class takes a lot of…
