Biology, and how to think about biological systems
This was a recap of all your basic biology, formatted in a very disorganized fashion
I learned about genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
4 exams each worth 100% lowest exam or half of the final and half of the lowest exam dropped. There is not homework but I would say you have to study for 10 hours a week to be successful.
"break-neck speeds" yes. fully unintelligible. but i preferred this since he crammed all information into the lectures. like lowkey all i needed to know was on the lectures! wasn't very inspiring as a professor but i genuinely enjoyed biochemistry so it wasn't that bad. saying this now that im out of class but marko polo haha im so funny

The learner's manual is helpful. The way this class is taught doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The lectures should at least somewhat prepare us for exams. They simply don't.
I am going to explain this class the way I wish someone had explained it to me. If you have 100% biochemistry knowledge you would only get a 50% on the exam. If you can apply the subject you would get a 70% on the exam. The remaining 30% is based on if you think in the same way as the biology department. The exams include trick questions that have no bearing on the subject on biology. The information for the questions will be written in a fashion designed to see if you can figure out the logic the exam writer is using. It is not an accident that the most successful students either come from Northeast America or have a specific educational path. In terms of the professors both are approachable and helpful. While they have different styles you will learn alot in their lectures. The unfortunate part is that it won't prepare you for the exams. My advice is to switch to an adjacent major and take biology at Barnard. It is not worth the stress.
