I learnt about how to format a screenplay and all the different components of building a successful story. I also learnt about the difference between writing short, feature and TV.

Learned how to write screenplays and the important elements that go into it.

Learned the basics of narrative structure, screenplay format, and what makes a strong script through an artistic/industry-focused lens.

I learned how to write both a feature script and a short, 3-5 script. I also learned vital processes of revision, as well as themes necessary for each shorter work and how to develop characters well. I learned also about specifics of formatting scripts.

I learned a ton of tricks, structures, and terminology that have to do with screenwriting. This was a very useful and knowledgable workshop to do, especially if you do not have alot of experience with screenwriting. you will definitely go through the basics!

I learned how to write a screenplay from scratch, and how to edit and adapt my work so that my stories can flow much more clearly and also be marketable, as well as how to read and edit other people's scripts.

I learned about all the basics of screenwriting for narrative short form screenplays. We also touched a bit on TV writing and feature length writing but that was not the focus of the course. I learned how to give and ask for good feedback on screenplays. The class was very open so we were able to ask questions and voice concerns about what specific topics were covered.

It was an extremely insightful instruction into the basics of screenwriting, the overall structure, and narrative techniques. There was a pretty intensive workload, but they were mostly creative assignments such as writing your own screenplay or giving notes for others, so it was not necessarily overly burdensome. I think anyone interested in film would benefit from taking this course as it gives so much context into a film reads on paper.

If you have no idea how to write a script, or if you have experience but want to continue or find a new path within the writing world, this class works well. We both watch many short films and write 3 separate scripts, which can connect or remain separate. Because of this, it functions both as a method of creative dumping and experimentation as well as learning.
