About an hour of homework per night; six quizzes per semester; final exam. The quizzes are manageable and Illan gives a review packet before each quiz.
I learned a lot in this course, mostly about grammar. I also learned about Israeli culture but less so. In terms of perspectives, we did not learn about that.
Illan is the perfect combination of knowledgeable and kind, patient, and energetic. He is more than willing to meet with students outside of class, and genuinely wants his students to learn. I have taken Hebrew with him for years. He fosters a sense of community and camaraderie while still maintaining control over the class. It is truly a pleasure to take Hebrew with Illan (both 1st Year and 2nd Year). He is committed and intelligent and has been one of the best professors I've had here.

Illan is enthusiastic, intelligent, smart, funny, and patient. He teaches 1st and 2nd Year Hebrews I and II. He's laid back, which allows the students to develop camaraderie with him and each other. He has a huge bank of knowledge about Semitic languages and linguistics in general, and he incorporates his knowledge into lessons. He is always good-natured and willing to meet with students outside of class. He wants nothing more than for his students to succeed, and it shows. He prioritizes the needs of the class before any others, and still manages to teach material thoroughly. He seems to truly love to teach, which makes his class all the more enjoyable. He wants to share his knowledge, and he wants his students to appreciate it and to love learning it. I could not recommend Illan more.
Intensive Hebrew grammar: lots of verb conjugation and different verb categories ('Peulim'), a bit of reading comprehension, and some vocabulary.
