This course serves as an excellent resource for broadening one’s perspective on diverse cultural traditions and the use of temperament systems. It explores a substantial body of artists and composers who employed innovative temperament systems beyond the European 12-tone temperament. Georg Friedrich Haas’ expertise, both as a composer and a connoisseur, provided a richly informed foundation for class discussions.

This was an overall great experience in terms of the understanding music that is beyond twelve tone temperament both in the perspective of music theory, and within the perspective of performers, as the class has discussions on various recordings of interesting performers.
