Learned how to fail and then recover from that basically
10 psets, 2 midterms, 1 final. Don't remember if anything was dropped.
kinematics, rotational motion, sho, fluids, etc
This class almost made me drop the physics major. Cory Dean is quite possibly one of the driest, most boring professors at Columbia. I wish I had recorded his lectures just so that I could use them to fall asleep at night. I took this class a semester ago, and I genuinely cannot remember anything this man said. And I don't think it's a me problem because since taking the course, I have loved all my other physics courses and professors. He just sucks all the life and joy out of physics. But being boring isn't a crime. What's a crime are his evil ass tests. Our first midterm had the distribution of a flat line, which he seemed pretty shocked yet proud of. He is known for making difficult exams. For what purpose? No idea. I'm just glad to never have to take his course again.
I learned about different conservative and non-conservative forces, simple harmonic motion, centripetal motion, rotational motion, and basic kinematics equations.
Problems sets are mixed with both hard and easy problems. Really lock in on the exams--spoiler the problem sets are nothing like the exam.

Cory's class is easy everything except the tests. He's a good lecturer but provides too little familiarity with the exam material so you can blow hot and cold on some things while you'll be fine on most others. Midterms are ~63 mean for both. It can be frustrating but it's a good learning experience.
