Blinklearning textbook chapter questions for homework, but they can be retried even after the 3 chances. For quizzes, oral and written parts were graded very leniently by him, although the listening and multiple choice on quizzes were kind of difficult and were the sections where I got the most points knocked off. Class preparation/participation 25%, Class Project 15%, Final Oral Activity 10%, and Unit Wrap Up Quizzes 10% each.

SPAN UN3349 · Fall 2022

I learned plenty about the movement of the Hispanic World up to the Enlightenment era. The wealth of information and ability to digest the material was astonishing.

SPAN UN3350 · Fall 2022

We discussed a lot of significant cultural revolutions, distinct ways to represent history, and enhanced our understanding of the spanish language through reading and writing. We developed a more global perspective to expand our understanding of culture beyond the American narrative.

SPAN UN1101 · Spring 2021

This class was "super duper!" This class was a lot of fun. We had great discussions, and a good mix of activities during class to practice. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Spring 2021 Course: SPANUN1101_002_2021_1-ELEMENTARYSPANISHI : SPANUN1101_002_2021_1 - ELEMENTARY SPANISH I Instructor: Irene Alonso-Aparicio

Profe Boalick is a very decent guy! He is incredibly organized with slides and activities, and makes his expectations very clear in his syllabus. The classroom environment is supportive, and he is very patient with students. Although he is very by-the-book, I didn't mind it at all because I was able to go back to the textbook and catch up if needed. There were also some fun side projects and mini proyetos! We would also play kahoot the class before any quizzes, which would be a fun break but still good for review. He pronounces very clearly and teaches at a manageable pace, and is always willing to explain or answer students' questions if they are ever confused. You really can't go wrong with him, he's a very solid guy.

SPAN UN3349 · Fall 2022

I learned about Spanish history, Prehispanic history, and where both meet. I learned about different cultures, religions through primary sources, books, and art! I also improved my Spanish through reading these texts, discussions, and writing small essays.

SPAN UN3350 · Fall 2022

Low stakes, satisfies global core, practice spanish, very interesting topics that you may not be able to explore elsewhere

SPAN UN2101 · Spring 2026

I was able to get a better grasp on tenses such as the future, subjunctive and conditional as well as get more conversational experience with my peers.;
