Elementary Spanish for Heritage Speakers · Latin American And Iberian Cultures
In this course, I developed a deeper understanding of Spanish language and culture. I improved my speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through various exercises and interactions. Additionally, I gained insight into the nuances of Spanish-speaking societies, enhancing my cultural awareness and communication abilities. Overall, the course equipped me with the tools to engage more effectively with the Spanish-speaking world.
I learned about the common grammar of Spanish

I learned the basics of Spanish, and even more as I'm a native speaker. It definitely helped me learn about punctuation, grammatical mistakes, how to conjugate a proper sentence and knowing how to spell the word correctly.
I learned how to write better in Spanish and how to say specific things in Spanish. I learned the "proper" form of Spanish and the difference between a formal form and other forms such as slang.
In this class, I learned many things I did not know about the Spanish language. I also learned how to use this new information to express myself using Spanish in ways I could not previously.

I learned more about writing and the grammar of Spanish.
I learned how to improve my grammar, writing, built confidence in speaking, and applying my spanish knowledge to communicate about current issues.
Overall, this course taught me to be much more proud of my heritage and learning process. This is something I do not think you would necessarily expect out of a class, but it has made me feel much more confident in my Spanish speaking, reading, listening, and writing. We covered so many things it is hard to choose specifics, but we learned some grammatical/ spelling concepts, how to write more academic, complex, and interesting Spanish writing assignments, and we learned a lot about Spanish as a global language and what Spanish and its culture means to many different people.
