We evaluated the historic crime trends in the United States, potential causes of shifts in crime, the effects of crime on the community, the effects of police on the community and the militarization of police over the years as a response to the war on drugs.
I learned a lot about the current research on crime and policing in the United States. The class mostly seemed to emphasize reading and presentation skills.
A very practical knowledge of the reality of crime and policing in the US. A lot of details on those topics that are typically not addressed in things like news, high school, etc, so this was my first time learning them.
I would recommend this course to anyone interested in the subject material.
