I learned a lot about the relationship and variables at play when it comes to work and gender. I have a newfound perspective about what constitutes certain disparities in different occupations.

Not only did we learn about the history of gender in the workplace, but we focused on how to apply this understanding to a personal and/or modern context.

I learned how to look at the workforce in terms of who is being asked to perform more or less labor based on the identities they hold and what workplaces are more susceptible to this unequal division of labor.

SO MUCH!!! In terms of knowledge and perspectives, more than I could've thought. In terms of skills, lots of writing and critical thinking.

I learned some great theories/perspectives about gender and work!

the intersection between work and gender. how class, gender, race, and sexuality affect one’s experience in the workplace.

Social structure of the workplace and the way women interact, in domestic work, service work, and high status professions. How the US political institutions help or hinder the success of women in the workforce and how workplaces do the same.

I wish we talked more about Butler's definition of sex and gender and how this has changed over time.

I'm not a sociology major (this was the first Sociology class I took), but the content was still very accessible and interesting. Very relevant to every day life and past experiences, making the theories we study that much more interesting and engaging.

The course was small enough to allow for discussion, and the breakout rooms were good places to interact with peers. For students interested in gender dynamics or the American workplace, this course was interesting enjoyable.
