I learned a great deal about the most common flaws in experimental research and numerous ways to address these issues. The accompanying statistics and R work were also very helpful.
This course has probably been the best 'methods' class I've ever taken. Basically the course is about what an 'experiment' really is, and all the things that can go of the tracks and how to deal with them. I think it is incredibly helpful for anyone intrested in doing experimental research and certainly made me think about my research in different ways as well as the research I read.
The course was very difficult as I didn't have prior experience. However, Professor Green and Carolina both did their best to make sure most of us could understand the content as much as we could - their efforts and encouragement are very much appreciated!!! As hard as the course was, I have really enjoy the class and the projects :)
Really important and useful key concepts in understanding field experiments and causal inference in general; get strong training and reenforcement, for example, in the core assumptions and various practical challenges researchers will face when employing real-world field experiments.
I got a much better handle on the potential outcomes framework, randomization inference, and a large number of important details about how to think about, plan for, and execute a field experiment.
The elements of a good experiment, and just good research in general; how to implement experiments in the field
The skillset of designing, conducting and analyzing experiments is very valuable not just in academia but also in industry. This course builds a solid foundation in the skillset. Don is a wonderful instructor who is interested in the learning of his students. We were also lucky that Carolina was the TA as she was very accessible and her sections were helpful.
I absolutely loved this course and was looking forward to it every time!
