What students said

Norman Christ · 2026 · 2026

Griffiths quantum - part 1, followed quite closely. Primarily wavemechanics through to hydrogen atom (though only in its basic sol'n)

Emlyn Hughes · 2023 · 2023

Reinforcement of quantum mechanics knowledge at much higher mathematical difficulty Perspective is very physics - and very particle physics focused

Norman Christ · 2026 · 2026

Lots of math, but despite the title of the course, it was taught in a purely mathematical way with little to no conceptual knowledge.

Emlyn Hughes · 2023 · 2023

Quantum Mechanics as taught in Commins' "Quantum Mechanics - An Experimentalist's Approach". Much of the material in this course was a recap of undergraduate quantum mechanics. Only the last few lectures on angular momentum, rotations, and Clebsch-Gordon coefficients were substantial topics beyond undergraduate Quantum Mechanics.

Norman Christ · 2026 · 2026

In this course, I learned the basic concepts of QM and how to solve simple problems which incorporate these concepts.

Emlyn Hughes · 2023 · 2023

most topics in this course were covered in my undergrad, those that weren't we did not spend much time on.

Norman Christ · 2026 · 2026

I am learning a lot about quantum mechanics.

Emlyn Hughes · 2023 · 2023

Course content is not as advanced as I would have expected for a grad QM course. Only a few topics were new compared to UG QM course.

Norman Christ · 2026 · 2026

A very broad algebra based overview on Quantum Mechanics

Emlyn Hughes · Fall 2021 · 2023

Easy to follow treatment of QM - I think Prof Hughes' style of teaching helped in this regard. However, the assignments and exams diverged to some extent from lecture material - I think this is really an unfortunate consequence of following Commins' textbook. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2021 Course: PHYSGR6037_001_2021_3-QUANTUMMECHANICSI : PHYSGR6037_001_2021_3 - QUANTUM MECHANICS I Instructor: Emlyn Hughes
