In this course I became acquainted with issues concerning democratic citizenship, both theoretical and applied. I also had the opportunity to revisit some familiar thinkers in the tradition of western political philosophy - Rawls, Mills, Dewey, and interrogate their ideas under the specific theme of democratic life.

This was an extremely thought-provoking graduate seminar exploring some key debates in the concept of democratic citizenship, beginning with some famous thinkers such as Mill, Dewey, and Rawls, and moving on to some more recent contemporary thinkers. Some subtopics in week-to-week discussion included concepts such as epistocracy, immigration and naturalization, and non-electoral forms of democracy.
