I learned how to write and read on a very advanced level in French. This course helped my approach to all literature, regardless to language, in numerous ways.

We got a broad overview of French literature spanning from the medieval period to today

-The emphasis is put on attendance, which is fair considering this class is discussion-based -2-3 papers and 1 short 5min oral presentation The entire process was very stress-free for me personally, and I'm certain that as long as you are open to discussion and understand the assignments, you will be fine.

I learned how to analyse French literature from a textual basis, and gained a good understanding of major works from the middle ages to the present day.

How to analyze French literature through a very strict methodology involving close reading and "explications de texte" Rigorous text-based analysis of literature that seeks to focus on the effect of the words on the page, removing the intentionality of the author Applying French language skills to literature analysis

This class was quite enjoyable. Laetitia is kind, understanding, and funny, and you can tell she cares about her students' well-being. It is a survey course, so we spent 1 week on each book, and while we didn't go in-depth into the works at all, I think this class provides a good overview for students whose first language isn't french. I am happy to have had the opportunity to work with Laetitia this semester!
