Introduction to Accounting and Finance · Economics
how to read and interpret balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow. Where the numbers come from, methods of calculation and accounting.
I agree with the last review. You definitely have to work (hard too) for this class if you want a decent grade. Maedler is very knowledgeable - that is true. But that doesnt mean that you'd get an A or anywhere near that by studying for just an hour or two before the exams, unless of course, you;re a super genius. But i sure wasnt, and many people i know werent. so, if you want a good grade, and also learn something in this, you'd have to put the time and effort into it.
weekly problem sets. Have to read the chapter before completing the problem sets (this takes about 3 hours/chapter). 2 midterms, 2 quizzes, 1 final, and a term project for extra credit.
Moderate. Weekly problem sets that may be long either because the questions go totally above your head, or because he assigs A LOT of problems from the book. One midterm and one final - both mostly from the book, but make sure you understand the few "other" questions that are on the practice tests because they may end up killing you, even though his catch-phrase is "I don't like surprises" (which is definitely true). The curve's not that great, and don't be deceived by his extra credit problem because it won't do anything for your grade. In general though, a lot of people seemed to slack off - so if you're not one of them, you'll probably end up with an A- or above.
Very doable. Weekly problem sets (straight from the book, try the practice problems at the end and check them if you're unsure). 3 Noncumulative, open note exams that aligned fairly closely to the psets (the second seemed to be pretty rough for most people)
fairly easy homework, quizzesmidterm and final are all managable
Weekly problem sets, 2 midterms and a cumulative final. Do all of the problem sets (very manageable) and you won't break a sweat during the midterms. Do well on your midterms and you'll sail through the final.

Don't recall much about the assignments but 5-8 hours investment every week.
A few (3-4) of announced quizes and a few hw's (4?). Long Midterm. Final not cummulative (just Finance). You can do well if you study and go over the problems he went over in class.
