Because my research was based on collecting data from Season 6 of Shark Tank, I was exposed to may start-ups (both successful and not). This was very insightful for me as I not only learn about start-ups, what are the best valuations, etc. but also, how to be a successful entrepreneur.
I learned that I value a 2 point GPA boost more than however much they'd pay me for a semester of work!
Like I mentioned above, this is a very applicable research course that my professor allowed me to embark!

New research, technical, critical thinking, and analysis skills
I have been working with Professor Michael Best's team. I've been primarily training this semester in how the team has been working with Python and SQL. I hope to gain more exposure into the research's progress and application next semester.

Through the research I conducted with Rene Chalom I was able to learn a lot about subsidies in the Electric Charging space and their impact on Electric Vehicle demand and also the creation of additional charging stations, focusing on the West Coast, specifically in California. I was able to learn about the Low Carbon Fuel Standard policies in California. In my tasks as a research assistant I spent time researching on the laws California had imposed in-terms of LCFS and the generation of carbon credits in order to further incentivize building charging stations. Additionally, I specifically focused on Fast Charging Infrastructure (FCI credits) learning about the qualifications, legal and regulatory approvals needed to gain FCI credits from charging networks such as EVgo, Tesla, and EVconnect. I was then able to do thorough economic analysis learning about the impact the FCI credit system had from the charging network perspective and how the new credit system impacted the building of new charging networks in California. I also learned how to conduct in-depth data analysis via excel by conducting tasks such as the pricing schedules, station specific pricing, markups, and locations of charging stations and the changes in the pace of building charging stations after the regulation was implemented in California.
My research was mostly a resume builder.
