It is an advanced micro theory course intended for students inside the MA Economics program. We cover four topics, including mechanism design, matching theory, insurance, and networks. The professor will assign referee report for a micro theory paper which is closely related to our course material.
This course expanded the discussions in Micro II and has a strong focus on theoretical proofs. I learned critical concepts in game theory and mechanism design through lectures and assignments.
The course is excellent for those who would like to continue to do a PhD in economics, especially micro theory field. It is one of the most rewarding courses inside the MA Economics program. However, the course materials are very challenging, which is not very suitable for those who are seeking for industry jobs.
